Welcome back to our Mardi Gras series. Last week, we explored Mardi Gras Luncheon Lewks, as styled by Melanie. This week we are elaborating on headwear, from hats to headdresses, in Stacy's signature sparkly, colorful style. While Melanie is generally inclined to take Coco Chanel's advise ("Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off"), as we said last week, when it comes to Mardi Gras, even she can get on board with more is more! Which is far more in the realm of Stacy's fashion philosophy.
Aside: Now that we think about it, if you've ever seen a photo of Mademoiselle Coco wrapped in strands upon strands of pearls you realize she often broke her own rules. If it's good enough for Chanel, it's good enough for us.
Partying Down to Sparkletown
Color and shine define Stacy's look, which often prominently features shades pink. (If you haven't yet noticed it, Maison Mariann's brand colors are a direct nod to Stacy's love of pink and Melanie's love of black. We like to think the white represents Mariann in her heavenly glory, our own guardian angel, albeit with a glass of champagne or bourbon in hand.)
Here we have a couple of examples of Stacy's style. Obviously — and perhaps comically given the title of this Journal post — devoid of headwear in these two images, but trust us she loves hats. Clearly Stacy gets her love of sparkle from her mama, Mariann.

When Stacy is shopping in Mobile for something festive and fun, she often visits the nonprofit retail space Urban Emporium, which serves "to nurture start-up and early stage, independent retailers." A favorite vendor she discovered at the emporium, is Velvet Lab. Stacy has her eye on these fringe-embellished sweatshirts. At Pops Midtown, Stacy recently spied this Queen of Sparkles "We Started It" (a good-natured, Carnival history jab at New Orleans) custom sweatshirt. She says Pop's is know for its fun, Mobile-specific throws and beads.
Fit: Topping It Off
Stacy shared three pieces in her hat wardrobe. From upscale to casual, each one is a great place to start or finish an outfit with style and sass.
Ladies Who Lunch (or attend the Kentucky Derby)
Deb's Designs is a custom milliner specializing in hats and fascinators. Stacy's is a white saucer with hot pink feathers. But she loves this similar blue one and sees wearing it at the Knights of Revelry mystic society reception Stacy and her husband Johnny attend on Fat Tuesday.

Candyland

Get fun and fabulous hats, fascinators and headresses in a variety of styles and levels of bling at Haute Heads. Stacy has this candy-themed piece and finds a lot more occasions than you'd think to adorn her adorable noggin with it.

Join the MOB
One day, Stacy will ask you for a favor. It will be to check out her friend Kimble Walsh's MOB hats (employing Mobile's airport code, not invoking the mafia — or so we hope). Find them at Urban Emporium and wear to parades, while out running errands or any time you dang well feel like it.

Put A Pin In It

Naturally, we can't help but envision one of our pieces with one or all of the above. Pop our Flirt-de-Lis brooch on your hat, lapel or anywhere else on your outfit as an additional embellishment. Wearing multiple brooches is V on-trend right now and we know you are, too.
🎶 Dancing, But Make It French 🎶
Melanie here: During a recent playlist making spree, Stacy asked me for one with French cafe vibes, so I dug around Spotify for some of my favorite Jazz manouche (also known as gypsy jazz) artists and bands to create our Gettin' Frenchy playlist. Pairs well with pain au chocolate, champagne or cafe au lait and any of the above items.
Cheers!
